Chapter 1: Her Persona

My name is Kate Bernice and I was born in 2009 ~ (Taylor Swift 1989 reference)

As I have mentioned, I am Kate Bernice R. Macaranas, I was born on August 28, 2009, at Gabriela Silang General Hospital, to my parents Bernard and Anecia Macaranas.

Her Persona; my chosen title for my About Me blog is not just a randomly chosen word, but a very meaningful one. Her Persona, was actually extracted from my favorite KPOP group's albums: Love Yourself; Her and MAP OF THE SOUL: Persona. Therefore, this blog is about her; me, and the map of my soul—my persona.

You already had a little bit glimpse of me, from my introduction, my name, my birthday, my parents, and the school where I am currently enrolled, and probably you also had an idea from my intro on the artists that I stan. But now, let me introduce you to my persona.

I studied pre-elementary and elementary in St. Thomas Aquinas Learning Center of Vigan City Inc., where I have always been seen as the active and smart girl, I was an achiever—an overachiever, rather. A kid always excelling in the field of mathematics, and even in all subject areas. This school was very special to me as it holds every memory and moment of my childhood. The classrooms, the hallways, the stairs, the chairs, and the doors saw every moment of me as a little kid, the little kid who used to play hide and seek and hide behind the doors, the little kid who used to run on the hallways, the little kid who sat on the chairs, and the little kid who used to sit on the stairs and have a nice little talk with her friends and her teachers. Every moment—even the littlest ones, and even those I can no longer remember, every corner of that school saw it. It was a bittersweet feeling leaving that school; because I know that as a new chapter begins, my childhood also ends.

Currently, I am a Grade 10 student in Ilocos Sur National High School and I belong to the Special Science Class or the Science, Technology, and Engineering Program. STE/SSC was not on my bucket list, but here I am, on my very last year.

I can't say that I am an extroverted kid, based on my MBTI, I am an INFP-T, which suggests that I am more introverted than extroverted. Although, this contradicts with my friends' description of me—extroverted, social, and active girl. But, that persona is just for my closest ones, or those I am comfortable with. I can still be social with everyone but I am not as energetic as how I am to my friends.

I actually don't know how and where did I find the courage to be the Science Club President. I was just a shy Grade 7 Representative—not speaking even a word when its unnecessary. She gets so shy to join her ates and kuyas but they will still make her feel included. 'Til that Grade 7 Representative became Protocol Officer, still, a very shy and reserved officer that has even little to no plans of running for Science Club President. Until Grade 9 came. It was the year of my life. My 'peak era' as they say. This year was when I became the Vice President of the same club, where I enhanced and developed different skills. This was the time I knew I had to be the next Science Club President. This was where I felt that burning passion for leadership and service. The first two years were also driven by passion, but this time, It's different. It was burning. It was a flame that never goes out.

I hope....it never goes out...may the flame never goes out...even if the sparks aren't there.
I hope and pray, that it will burn—until I get to live this life's purpose.

I guess, that's it for now. You'll see much more of me in the next blogs.
